I have hatched a showgirl silkie chick that will be raised with old English bantam chicks. We started out with 6 naked neck silkie eggs and ended up with only one hatching.
That being said, I was surprised by her markings. What color would you think this little one is going to be? Thanks...
I have a silkie roo that is 6 months old and just let me tell you that the fact that your “wimpy roo”doesn’t crow is great! Lol. Pecker, my little guy, crows all…..day……long. Nonstop. I thought he would be fairly quiet, as he was hand raised from hatch as a singleton, but started crowing...
Yes, his hackle feathers are what made me start questioning him. They aren’t as obvious as my silkie but the girls do not have this new growth that “Brandon” now has.

I was looking at this yesterday! All of a sudden, it almost seems like there are hackle feathers and possible saddle feathers. I guess she will remain Brenda until she tells us for sure! 😁

Good morning! I’ve had my 5 mixed breed girls for a little over a month now and they were born at the end of June. One of my girls, Brenda, is now officially taller than my silkie roo, so I sent a message to the friend that gave me the hens just as an update. I always send him pictures and...
Are your hens noisy or relatively quiet? Just asking for fun.
My 5 hens hatched at the end of June, I am told, and I rarely hear them make any sounds. Occasionally, if they are irritating each other, they will make a little bit of noise but they are definitely not singing the songs of their...
