    Thanks, not sure how bad a winter we will have this year. I bet it gets bad since we didnt have a winter last year (1 day of snow and no freezing temps).

    Hooking up light timer

    WOW, I just found this thread on a search..........cool ideas I am seeing. I like the cookie tin heaters.....neat. Trying to figure out a light source for my hen house to extend thier days a lil they are slowing down in the egg laying this time of the year.

    I have 3 large Egg Laying hens and 11 bantam 6 month olds...... Temps are starting to drop and the days getting shorter my 3 hens have slowed down on laying eggs..... I have been told I need to extend the day for them to eat longer, if the temps stay above 40 degrees does this mean I can shut...

    Yea, I will have to get better pics tomorrow. The white one in the front right is actually yellow in color, there are two like this; one is very very small, usually hides under the bigger chicks. I think they are 6 or 7 weeks now....

    Got these 15 Chicks around the 4th of July. Friend of mine got them from the Cackle Hathery and gave them to me as a gift..... Exotic Bantams I was told, so far I think I see some White Silkies, Black Japanese, a Polish "poofy" Chicken and several feather footed breeds I am not too sure about...

    Lebanon here........ Actually from WA state but, 22 years in the Army I been all over, liked Missouri the best so we settled here 2 years ago.

    Japanese Bantam Thread!

    I have some exotic bantam chicks, they are 5 weeks now..... I am not sure how many are Japonese but, I have several different colored ones, cant wait till they start develpoing thier looks.

    Stumbled on this site on a google search, had to join......cool. Living in Missouri, out of the city limits and enjoying the country life. I have had 3 adult hens for several months now and I just got 15 Exotic Bantams 5 week old chicks last week. Look forward to reading more.......
