Pictures of my friend the deer with my chickies

Quote: That is just so special. I'm not surprised by the hens and the deer side by side, we used to have a dog that the deer were fond of, but I am amazed by the deer's tolerance of you! That's really special. Thanks

Pictures of my friend the deer with my chickies

Thanks for all the nice comments We have a family of deer that bed down in our yard and every year give birth to a fawn so they are pretty used to me. One day I went to see my chickies and they came running around the corner all happy to see me with the deer right behind them. The deer...

Pictures of my friend the deer with my chickies

Hi, Thought you might all enjoy these pictures. The chickens and the deer like to hang out all day long. They are constantly following each other around. I am also pretty sure the deer is pregnant.

    ...

I have 2 buff orpingtons, 1 light brahma and an ee. They are all so loving and and all of them always come and sit with me. It may sound silly but I love to read books out in the run with my chickies and they will come and snuggle on my lap or shoulder (just like a cat) all the time

My Egg Laying Machine Buff Orpington

How to tell if a broody hen is in it for the long run

Hi, I am totally new to chickens. Lulu, my buff orpington has been laying steadily since early December (when she layed her first egg) and yesterday, all of last night and so far to date has not left the nest. She has been sitting on a golf ball and acting very protective...fluffing feathers...

How old on average are BOs when they start to lay?

I have 2 buff orpingtons. One was 24 weeks and the other was 27 weeks. They have been very good layers so far throughout the winter.....(even though one still chooses not to lay in the nesting box)

Ack! Two of my hens are getting plucked clean under their beaks

Quote: I feel the same way. I was feeling sick inside when I first saw my poor beardless baby but she is happy as can be and gets along great with my other three. Again....does anyone know how long or when the beard will grow back?
