    Relocation of nest & hen

So, just an update... She has 4 healthy chicks, and one more egg (her actual egg) to hatch. Now with the babies, I put her in the nursery so her box is on the floor for the chicks safety, and she's fine - she is not coming off her egg. So far so good!!! 4 chicks are healthy while we all wait...

    Relocation of nest & hen

Yea, thank you. I’ll mark the 4 she has been on and I think my husband figured how to lock her in but with an extension for small feed & water bottles. Gonna go figure some ideas for now. Thanks again!!

Thank you, this is very interesting information. I love learning new things. I only really know about equine pecking order and I’ve never seen my chickens fight so this was very informative. Thanks 👍

    Relocation of nest & hen

She’s been sitting since Aug 26. My biggest fear is having other hens get in her box when she’s out to eat and add eggs to her nest thinking it’s a communial nest. I have to move her 2 boxes over where she’d be safer in the nursery This is only the 2nd time one of my hens has been broody...

    Relocation of nest & hen

I’m curious if there any particular way or safer way to relocate a hen on her eggs & nest? I have rows of wall boxes, like a chicken condo. Typically my hens share a community box on the ground. I have a few floor boxes left from my quail. This hen, Summer, she laid her egg in a wall box...

    Rooster following

Hello all, Christie here 👋 I have 4 roosters. My silkies don't come outside. So my sage gem, Clyde & my Welsummer are in and out alll the time. My roosters do not fight. However, it’s very strange that my sage gem roo seems to be 2nd man in charge. My Welsummer, Amos, he knows it is his coop...

Didn’t actually raise bonwhites, they were for my husband and our bird dog, but there is a quail tale about the bobwhite We did raise cortounix, I loved em, hundreds of them (I got addicted to hatching ). Then we sold the whole flock and now just have chickens & peafoul

I raise horses, have dogs & cats. Worked with cattle and other smaller stock for over 35+ yrs I’ve had to do some home med on them all at one point My curiosity … Can chickens get headaches associated with fever? Do chickens fever? If need, taking temperatures ??? Like a horse or dog???

    New coop introduction

Hi! I’m Christie, live in south Jersey. I’m not new to birds, I’ve been working farms & ranches my whole life. However , I’m new to actually owning my own flock. I’ve only ever owned stock. It all started with 1 single bobwhite quail, and 3 peafoul we were taking in, that fell through. (That’s...
