Great info! Thanks. She's squatting for me. We don't use any extra lights, just the light of day. She's ventured into the nest once or twice. Guess it's just on her terms! Thanks again for the info!
Hi! My Buff Brahma is 8 months old and has been squatting for three weeks. I know they might take longer than other breeds to lay, but is it normal for her to be squatting so long without an egg? Thanks!
I have three 8 month old hens. One started laying at 5 months is an Olive Egger and still laying, one is a Buff Brahma, squatting and looks like getting ready to lay, the other is a white Easter Egger and no sign of laying. They aren't molting, either and it's early December. Should I be...
I have three chickens all around 5 1/2 months old. My F2 Olive Egger has already laid 24 eggs, once 8 in a row and once 7 in a row. They are smallish eggs, but have yolks and are edible. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? Or just be happy? She's very healthy.
UPDATE
I used the hydrogen peroxide and neosporin. No pus ever came out, but continued to use. Her ear looks normal and cough has been gone for a week now. But I got the Tylan50 since it’s good to keep on hand.
She’s laying more now than she has all last year. Go figure.
Thanks everyone for...
Thanks so much! Used the hydrogen peroxide and newsprint tonight. Separated her from the others and am ordering the Tylenol. She’s still laying and her comb and wattles are bright red, so that’s a pretty good sign. Will let you know what happens and thanks again!
This is my 8 year old hen, Delphine. She has no signs of illness except a small cough and this lump. It’s not warm to the touch. Not sure what to do. Suggestions or ideas? Thanks!
So good to hear someone else has experience this, too. I'll stop the BluKote. I do have some Peck No More, but it came off rather quickly. Game pellets sounds like a good idea. Don't know why I didn't think of increasing their protein. Thanks for such a quick reply, too.
