    Turkeys For 2013

Thank you, that eases my mind quite a bit. My other poult hasn't bothered the injured one at all. They snuggle and were acting totally normal and cuddly today so that was a huge relief. The cut has scabbed over and there is no more bleeding. I will be doing a full check on the inside of their...

    Turkeys For 2013

I have a query. We put the poults in with the chicks today (all of them are 4 weeks old). Now one of my poults seems to be a bit mussed up and bleeding a wee bit. Should I be overly concerned? I have removed the chicks now. And she isn't acting any differently. There is no real cut and I looked...

You have beautiful orpingtons! I have 2 Blue Orpingtons myself! One is speckled and one is straight blue. Lovely birds.

That should be plenty of space for your chickens.

    Turkey coop?

This is my turkey coop/duck coop (I have 2 of the same). It is made out of 5 pallets and tin siding! It is 54"x30"! Do I need bedding or will the hardware cloth floor suffice?

    The Duck Thread

This is the duck coop my fiance is "helping" me build right now (he is really doing all the work while I hold the screws)! It has a hardware cloth floor. Does anyone have any suggestions as to whether or not I should still use some bedding on top of the wire floor? Or will the wire suffice? The...

The first picture is my brooder in progress, (it is complete now). The second is my turkeys and the third and fourth are my chickens. They have been going on outdoor adventures in an enclosed space about once a week now!

They don't sell them in my area. Everyone else in this area orders them by the truckload/skid load. I most certainly do not need that large of an amount. We are a very small rural community, and I have checked the feed supply store and they don't carry bedding. We don't have a tractor supply...

Question; is using poultry starter okay for turkeys too? The lady at my feed supply told me that it was okay, what are your thoughts? BTW, it is 21% protein.

A tale of the Flax bedding

Hi! I have been looking into using this as well as the local feed supplier doesn't carry bedding of any kind, not even wood shavings (weird, I know) and the next nearest supplier is 40km away and carries this new product that you have depicted here. I would love to hear more about how it is...

    Deep litter method

Hubby suggested I use this FlaxBed Product, their website says that it is poultry safe but I have never heard of anyone using it before.. This is what it looks like. To me it looks like a combination of pine shavings and straw. It is super cheap and readily available. I just don't want my little...
