    Normal breathing or concern?

I can try and do that if you think seeing the video will help. I definitely will keep an eye on them. They aren’t too heavy, I’d say 4lbs maybe?

    Normal breathing or concern?

I noticed that two of my hens were open mouth breathing today. I do live in North Texas, so it has been getting much warmer, so not sure if it’s heat related. They also kind of make what sounds like a gasping sound every now and then when they are doing it. They have plenty of water and seem to...

My 6 month old chicks haven’t laid eggs

I live near Dallas, so normally a more dry climate. I also have them in an area that is harder soil- more like clay. I do have sand in their run, though. We have been getting lots of rainfall lately, but we are not heavy with trees or leaf litter in our yard.

My 6 month old chicks haven’t laid eggs

Oh my gosh I feel like such an idiot! 🤦🏼‍♀️ I started giving them this about a month or or so ago. I will go and get them a proper laying feed today! And only offer that to them a couple days a week. Are they at risk of malnutrition?? They also have eaten all the grass out of their run area -...

My 6 month old chicks haven’t laid eggs

Hi all! I have 3, 6 month old pullets - a buff Orpington, Easter egger and blue Plymouth. None of them have started laying eggs yet. I feed them the Cluck & Co scratch grain mix in a feeder and will give them scratch food from our leftovers occasionally. I also offer them a calcium rich snack...

Chickens ears getting more red and “saggy”?

Hi all- I’ve noticed my girls ears are starting to get more red, as well as her comb. I noticed today, one is more red than the other and they look kind of saggy? She’s just 5 months, so I know she’s close to laying as she’s getting more vocal as well as her comb getting darker. Are her ears...

    Comb not growing and pale

I have 2 other birds the same age - 1 buff Orpington and 1 blue Plymouth. She’s my only Easter egger for now! I’m giving them Texas Natural Feeds Elite Chick Starter. I have 2 sets of a 1 gallon feeder that I have on each side of the run and let them eat as they want. I plan to switch to a...

    Comb not growing and pale

Need some advice about on my Easter egger. She is 24 weeks old and I’ve noticed her comb isn’t growing like my others. It’s also pale and looks dry to me. Is this normal? Other than some loose stool, she is acting normal. I started adding a multivitamin to their water just to be safe.
