Thank you so much for your reply Debbie. I have tried the kiddie wind spinners and they didn't seem to worry them to much. Not much seems to worry the ducks to be honest. I am from Aus so we don't have squirrels or chipmuncks but I have had trouble in the past with wild birds and ducks bringing...
Hey guys,
I am currently having a bit of trouble with ducks in my chicken coop. The girls have a house that they are locked into at night but they have an open top area off the front but sometimes they free roam also. The problem I am having is with the whistling ducks we get around here...
Yes it definitely looks more fun. Can't imagine what it would have been like had she have had all 11 hatch. It's nice to watch them go about the yard and mumma teaching baby everything he or she will need to know. I definitely will, when I can get close enough. Mamma is VERY protective. You only...
I live in Aus. But I am sure my local co-op will have them. Or maybe we know them as something else and someone will be able to point me in the right direction 😀
Hi Debbie,
This is so good to know, I have never heard of horse pellets I will have to look them up on google and see if they would be something I could use here. I am always looking for ways to make the coop cleaner of poop 💩 ..
Hi Carters Chick House,
Yes, my hen was super aggressive during the time but she is normally a very calm hen, just sticks to herself roaming around but when it came to her eggs she was incredibly protective. I didn't end up moving her, I just let nature takes its course .. The odds didn't work...
Hi Ridgerunner,
I am not home ar the moment but when I am there I can snap a photo. I think the lip on the nesting box is OK. If anything I do worry that it will be hard for the babies to get in and out of when they hatch. But I will upload a photo and I am open to any advice you guys have on...
Hi Debbie,
Thank you so much for your input! It's comforting to know I am getting advice from a respected chicken owner. I never thought to put hay near her, I might do that and see what happens. I did work around her yesterday and she seemed to be OK with it but she did let me know when I got...
Hey guys,
I have my first broody hen in my flock of 5. Mumma is currently sitting on 11 eggs and has been for about a week. I am currently renovating the coop so she has picked the worst time and the worst spot. She has settled in a nesting box that she has scratched the hay out of so her and...
Oh wonderful! Thank you so much!
I also have another question for you guys, my 2nd one hatched and seems to have a bleeding back end. I don't know if this is normal but maybe you can help? He seems to be chirping find and moving around OK, should I be concerned?
Hey guys,
So im wondering if anyone can help me here. I have just hatched 2 baby chicks (waiting on a third) this is my third batch I have cooked and hatched but this time for some stupid reason I completely forgot to take out the top shelf of my Jonoel 12 incubator so the chicks have hatched...
I would imagine so yes, I have just always brought what they have always eaten but I will look into something else. She will be a year in September, she has just started to lay eggs also. OK, I am.off to get some vitamins for her. Thank you so much for your help!
We are in Brisbane, Queensland. I feed them a seed mix, the same thing I have feed them since they came of chick starter and the rest they forage from around the property. She will be a year in September. She sits and walks on her hocks, it's almost like she dosent have the strength to stand up...
