My camera wasn’t focusing. If she survives through the night (she seemed fine, searching for food and talking with mom etc, but just doesn’t look good) I’ll take more pics tomorrow. There was also a spot on her back.
We’ve hatched a lot of our own chicks from broody hens. Never seen this but she doesn’t look good. Is there a known cause? Maybe another hen attacked her? The chic can’t be more than 3 days old. I’ll attach pics in comments it’s not working to attach here.
Hi! I need inspiration/pictures to build a coop & run for my broody hens and baby chicks. We have serious hawks and free range our girls on a half acre. Our coop is high off the ground and not ideal for the babies because it can get trafficky and busy in there.
Has anyone built anything like...
I have had chics for years. Why have I never seen their belly buttons before???? Ok but there is black stuff in it. I’m worried the chic has internal bugs?
I believe she is just a trooper with a little mangled foot. I just cleaned and made sure it didn’t get infected and she was fine to go back with flock!
Newly hatched chic (from today or maybe yesterday) from under my broody hen. Has a weird injury, almost like a second vent? I’ll attach a picture of the injury and then also vent, which is clear.
Could it be from mites/fly strike? My coop might have mites.
They are ok!!! All crops this morning weren’t big at all. If nothing!! I www overreacting. I was just worried there for a second but I think all is well.
they are about a week old. I don’t think they are drinking as much water as they should be, but they seem to be eating a lot. No signs of pasty butt. What made me worry is because I saw one walk backwards, dragging his head on the ground and I know that’s a bad sign. most of the crops are really...
My hen hatched 8 beautiful chics in the coop. Our coop floor is sand. I’m worried the babies might be eating the sand? All their crops seem super full & now that I’m thinking about it I’m not sure I see a lot of baby chic poo. Would they eat the sand? And if so, would it hurt them? What can I...
