    Supposed to be Blue Rocks???

I'm curious if anyone knows what breed these two pullets are? The were bought in March from Blue Seal as "blue rocks". Clearly they are not "blue". Both are black with golden brown speckled chests. Black legs. They are 16 weeks old. I'm thinking they are just mixed breeds.

    Ask a chef

I hard boil eggs same day as picked from the nest boxes. They come out perfect every time. Bring salted water to a boil. Lower eggs one at a time with a spoon into boiling water. Set timer for 17 minutes. Remove eggs from boiling water and immediately place in a bowl of iced water...

    What are you canning now?

Hi everyone ....... I have lots of pickling cucumbers in the garden. I have already canned bread & butter pickles, dill pickles, hot dill pickles and garlic dill pickles. I want to can Sweet Pickles ... but the only recipe I have is a 9 day process. Is this common for sweet pickles?

    What are you canning now?

I am fairly new to canning ...... do you all remove the bands from the jars after processing? Just wondering if there is a reason why some folks remove the bands and some do not when storing their jars after processing.

    New Hampshire!

I believe you are right! I didn't want to pay a ton of money for pure bred eggs because I wasn't sure if Becky would see this through or be a good mom. I don't know how to PM? I may be interested in the brown eggs if reasonable. This is my second time this summer with a broody. Tulip...

    New Hampshire!

Does anyone have a few fertilized hatching eggs they would be willing to sell. I have a seriously broody hen "Becky". This is her first time being broody and would like to try her with a few eggs. I'm in Concord, NH.

    What are you canning now?

I have always wanted to try canning potatoes. Did you raw pack them? After you open the jars that are prepared are the canned potatoes firm enough to be able to make potato salad? I worry about mushy potatoes.

Thank you for your response. I hope you are correct ...... that would make me happy. I was concerned with the size of their comb.

Welsummer Chicks - Roo's or Pullets?

These three Welsummer chicks are 4.5 weeks old now. I am hoping at least one of them is a pullet but all three look identical to me. Nothing distinguishing between all three which makes me feel like they are either all pullets or all roo's. Thoughts?
