    Integrating ducklings

Thank you @cheezenkwackers and @shawluvsbirds !! I’ll take your advice and do what you’ve suggested, I do know that my male is a bit dominant towards his girls, so considering your advice I’m sure if I leave the babies alone with him, he’ll probably try something unpleasant. (Trying to get...

    Integrating ducklings

Hello all! It’s been a while since I’ve posted. All my duckies are well and happy, and I now have two new Harlequin x Cayuga babies that are now almost 25 days old! Unfortunately, I’m in a trailer, and they’re slowly getting too big for us :( I have some female ducks that seem broody, but never...

    Lump on beak? Scab?

My little man’s has a scab-like lump on his beak. I wanted to make sure that this isn’t anything serious. My hopes are that he just bopped his beak into something. I was also gone for a week so I don’t know when this happened.

    Duck moaning?

It seems to happen at the end of her exhale. Except she and one of her sisters I’ve noticed don’t do it unless they’re laying down. It’s pretty hot where I am so I’m hoping they’re just hot, but I’m going to be putting a drop of oregano oil in a gallon of water to see if that helps.

    Duck moaning?

Hi everyone! I have a concern for my Silver Appleyard. She’s been moaning recently and it’s a bit odd. I have a video of her. My male Welsh Harlequin is sitting in front of her, he seems to be protective of this one more than his other girls his age. Have y’all heard this from a duck before? She...

    Duckling slower than the others?

    Duckling slower than the others?

I mostly just sprinkle it around their yard and put a handful in their feed bowls so they can it whenever. I’m not sure how much to give them tbh, but I know not to give it to them all the time. He’s walking a lot more now, I think it may be ants tho, I’ve noticed a ton in their enclosed area. I...

    Duckling slower than the others?

I have a 3wk old male Dutch harlequin, Alexander, and he seems to be walking a bit wobblier than the others, and he keeps plopping down like his legs hurt. On one of his knees, it looks a little red, I wonder if he got sunburnt? He just lies there while his girls run around eating, and he seems...

    Accidentally got a Cedar Coop

The ducks are still doing good! Doesn’t seem to be any decline in their health. I think as long as the wood itself doesn’t omit a lot of fumes then it’s fine. I know for sure that cedar shavings aren’t good though. Pine is better.

    Duckling ate a wasp 🤦🏻‍♀️

So far I haven’t seen any swelling, she did eat some chick feed and dug around in some mud tho

    Duckling ate a wasp 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hey everyone, so my little week old Cayuga ate a paper wasp. I let them into their pool to cool down a little bit since it’s nearly 100°, they were having fun and bathing A paper wasp came along wanting water, and my Cayuga, Harley, bless her heart, leapt at it and caught it! She would chew it...

    Baby ducks outside?

Hello! I’m going to be ordering ducklings from Metzer Farms soon. I live in a trailer and I won’t have much room for the babies in my bathroom bc the cats litter box is in there. I was wondering: would 3 dayish old ducklings be fine outside in an enclosed pen? I live in Oklahoma, and the weather...

    2/5 sized gravel for ducks?

Hello! I’m thinking of getting River rocks to cover the gross mess in my ducks run. I’ve seen people use the small Pea Gravel, but it seems to get smooshed around when it gets wet I was wondering if 2/5 inch river rocks would work well? Would it hurt their feet?

    Accidentally got a Cedar Coop

Tysm! I’ll give that a shot I think. If I can seal away as much of the fumes as I can I think it’ll lower any risk of hurting my duckies. To answer @rosemarythyme s question about ventilation, I do have the doors open at all times during the day, and it has two small mesh windows just under the roof
