Hello! A few weeks back I received some great information about this chick's breed (Mottled Houdan) and possible gender. At almost 11 weeks old, the bird's comb is starting to redden, so wanted to check back to see if that means I've got a young roo on my hands, or if this bird is still looking...
Thanks for sharing this! I'd never heard of that breed - she came from a generalized "polish/crested" incubator, so I appreciate you sharing the breed she likely is. Google images of "Mottled Houdan" sure do align with how she looks! :)
Raising chicks comes with a gamble that you may have some cockerels in the bunch.
Here are two lovely boys that I need to rehome due to them being...boys.
I live in the city and as much as I have bonded with them I'm frankly unable to keep them.
They are 9 weeks old & have been raised by me...
Well then I guess I shouldn’t be surprised as I went in looking for the lively, peppy chicks! Thanks for the tip, if I end up getting another batch I’ll definitely shift my strategy.
My EE babies (sold to me as 4 pullets) have given me quite a lot to consider seeing as one is clearly a roo. In addition, some people have thought one of my other EEs is a cockerel as well!
Have a guess at these two. :frow
