    3-4 week chicks in brooder

I know people say not to house chickens with ducks but I have my two ducks with chickens. At 5 weeks the ducks did not need heat even at night, and it was getting down to 50 degrees then.

I have got myself into some trouble....

Haha, I was there! And I found this great thread for anyone who wants to look at it: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/296168/lets-see-pics-of-your-pallet-coops After looking through some ideas and talking to my husband, we decided we are going to use the pallets to add on to our current coop...

    orphaned gosling

I do have two ducks, they are both 8 weeks old. Right now I have him in one of those big 50 gallon rubbermaid tubs with a heat lamp. The bedding is sand (we use it for all of our babies) with some pine chips on one side to lay down on. We will see how long that lasts, lol. I hope not too soon...

I have got myself into some trouble....

Thanks everyone for replying! I am thinking I will get a plastic shed and anchor it down. That would be easy to cut windows in for ventilation, or I may build a coop and run out of pallets. I have found a place to get free pallets, so I may use those. Does anyone else have any experience...

I have got myself into some trouble....

I was thinking that too. But, waterfowl and chickens together aren't good as babies because it is a lot of work but now that they are older they cuddle together and nap together. Our two chickens out there even nap under our girl ducks' wings.

Can I put my layers with my meat birds?

Hi all, I started this thread a month ago and have since decided that I am just going to brood the Cornish X separately and set up a temp pen for them outside. I was going to put them with my layers, because i only had 6 and they would be 8 weeks by the time I got the Cornish X, but I have...

    orphaned gosling

I definitely will keep you updated! Once this stormy weather passes I am going to set up a pen outside so he can learn to graze during the day. And I just meant I wasn't sure if he would be happy if for some reason he could not migrate because of a birth defect or something.

    orphaned gosling

I am putting some brewers yeast on the food right now, but I am going to order some vitamins to put in the water for him/her. I think I will keep an eye on it for a few days and see if it gets better, if so I will just raise it until he/she can be released or leave on his own, if not I will look...

    orphaned gosling

We found it kind of close to a lake. We were at a park yesterday and saw it as we were leaving. We didn't see any adult geese all day. And yes I know how to care for waterfowl; we have 2 ducks. I was thinking it was left behind as well, it is young and does not walk like other goslimgs I have...

    orphaned gosling

So, my husband and I found a gosling yesterday. The parents were no where to be found. We sat in our car for a long time and saw no geese. So my question is what kind of gosling is this? I realize that if it is a Canadian gosling I will have to let him/her go when he gets big. But I am not sure...

    Coconut water for chicks

Maybe... it really depends. If the chick is alert and active I wouldn't worry about it. All chicks are different, and some will eat or drink more than others.
