Chicks will do that after hatching because its exhausting for them. You can keep it in the incubator although its not what I'd recommend. If you have a place with the other chicks in it, you can put that one in with it. Just make sure it has food and water, bedding, and a heat lamp.
Howdy BYC community! Here are a few things about myself.
I've been working with chickens for as long as I can remember. I inherited the nickname 'The Chicken Whisperer' because of this.
I joined BYC to get advice for my flock as well as give some to those I can help!
I have a flock of about...
I used to get my chicks from Tractor Supply and sometimes they would be deformed or sick. For example, I bought a unsexed mystery chick that was in a container of chicks from a completely different breed. She was missing an eye. Another chick died from mudbutt. Many more died of unknown reasons...
Hello BYC community! I've been incubating twelve duck eggs for about four days now. I am completely new to ducks, and any advice on their care/keeping would be appreciated. Thanks!
This is not true. Baby chicks might need a couple of hours to get used to their cage after they hatch, after that it is ok to pick them up. Holding chicks is a good way to make them gentle and tame
