    My birds always eat scratch, crumbles and sometimes laying mash. They also get an hour or two every day outside their coop and run, in my bigger backyard, where they scratch the earth and peck into the grass, so they also eat bugs and grubs.

    they are almost three years old. There are some feathers in the run. Later, I may be able to post pictures of the one (I have only two) that is losing her feathers. The other is not losing any, BTW.

    Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it. But definately not ordinary molting going on--- I've been raising hens for many years, and seen a lot of molting. Nothing is growing back in, and she will be completely bare in another few days if I cant stop this. I think it's an internal...

    Not being pecked out. Also not being scratched out by the hen herself, which would be caused by itching from feather shaft mites.

    Not picked on or pecked out by others. No other worrying signs of bad health.

    What is the cure for losing feathers, the loss starts around the neck, then continues around much of the body.
