Thank you for responding. I have Easter Egger chicks that are a month younger and I was thinking the white one looked more like them than a red sex link! The seller must have mixed up the eggs when I bought them.
I hatched some eggs that were supposed to be Red sex links. I assumed the white one was a male and the dark one was a female as chicks are with sex links but they seem to be the opposite! Are they a different breed? They are 3 months old now. One crowed over a month ago but not since...
They are currently in separate brooder areas but can see each other separated by fence while outside. I have a new 8x12 coop that I am just finishing up for them. They should have plenty of space to move about. I also have a separate flock of 10 adult hens that will eventually be introduced...
Hi all, I hatched 3 chicks and one month later hatched 6 more. They are currently 7 weeks and 3 weeks old. Approximately how long should I wait before putting them together?
That turned out great! Thank you for sharing. I like your roost bar set up. I’ve been so stumped on what style of roost bar to use and location in the coop that makes the most sense. I want to make room for a lot of chickens! :celebrate
I am also in the process of building the same size/type of coop. I’d love to see the how people set up the interior. Have you been able to find a thread here that shows interior pics?
That’s possible. He looks like a mix of a few breeds, lol. He was completely black as a chick and in the Black sex link bin. Somebody along the way must have mixed him in. He’s getting more interesting looking as he gets older. I think his name shall be Mystery :)
The last 2 sets of chicks that I purchased from Tractor Supply were supposedly sexed yet half turned out to be roosters both times, ugh. This time I played it ”safe” and purchased black sex links. Lo and behold…a rooster. I can’t win, lol. I’m hoping we can keep this one and wondered if anyone...
Thank you, I will check on those issues. He did get quite large quickly. My first thought was that his legs weren’t strong enough to hold him up for long. I wasn’t sure if that was a “thing” with chickens. Hopefully that is all that it is. Maybe some Nutridrench wo be helpful?
