    Squirrel problem

We noticed that we weren’t getting as many eggs from our girls in the past week. The other night I was checking on our chickens and I discovered a squirrel in the nesting box! So, I figured the squirrel was causing my girls to freak out and that’s they stopped laying eggs. Needless to say, I...

We got our second egg today. It looks like this one is also from one of our Olive Eggers. I am hoping this will get the rest of the girls started laying…

We got our first egg the other day! It’s kind of a green color, so we are thinking it came from one of the Olive Eggers (Dorothy or Blanche). We opened up the nesting area a couple of weeks ago and we put two fake eggs in there to give them the idea on where to lay. We also have been slowly...

What with moving into a brand new house and all that entails, we finally got our coop & run put together list week. We went with the EGLU system. Of course, being newbies, we didn’t order the connector kit that allows you to attach the coop to the run, so I just ordered that. I missed out on...

We went to the workshop at Feeder Supply today and had a great time. It was very informative and Danielle is an absolute wealth of knowledge. There were about 40 people there which, Danielle said, was the largest group she had ever had. A few folks had chickens already and a couple of folks were...

My lovely bride and I are planning on going to the chicken clinic at Feeder Supply tomorrow. We will probably look you up to get some pullets in May. We are thinking that six would be a good number to get. I apologize for not knowing the abbreviations for the birds, but I think that “EE” means...

Feeder Supply is only 30 minutes from us. We plan to make a run over there this weekend to check things out!

Thanks for the recommendation! We moved here in September and are still learing about the area, but I think I remember seeing the Feeder Supply store in my travels. We will definitely check that out. First on our list is to get the coop and then work on getting the birds. We have a 2-1/2 year...

We do drink the well water after it is filtered quite a bit. We also have a 1000 gallon cistern that will filled by truck and will be used for the critters and outside watering.

Hi y'all, Mick Here. Your site was recommended to me by a member on another site that has a Homestead, Farming and Garden section. We are no strangers to country life, but we have recently moved to Colorado and are now in a position to become more self-sufficient. We have our own well and...
