Ahh nice! I didn't even think that this was an option. Like, just completely open with nesting boxes laying around. I assumed you had to have the typical enclosed space (which would have been horrific here today in 43 degrees Celsius). Might just do similar, and maybe put in a small enclosure...

Thanks for the reply! I was more looking at buying/building a traditional coop, then having this cage joined on, purely as a run. Is that how you use it? Or is yours more of an open air coop inside the cage? Luckily very flat here. Have a bunch of old pavers too, so they could work out well...

Wow, OK - I'll leave nothing to chance! Was it an enclosed coop/run? How did the fox(es) breach? After a quick search, looks like Australian possums aren't too good either! I was just going to re-enforce the bottom half of this potential run with a stronger wire like you suggested, but might...

Tried to send a private message, but it flagged the message as spam or inappropriate content  - sorry everyone else! If you have the time - just wondering what sort of threats/predators you've had to deal with in the Adelaide suburbs? My coop will be secured, but I was considering one...

Oh wow - small world. Did she enjoy her time here? No, haven't looked at the other forums yet, but good to know there is a local one. Yeah, I'm not against the idea of a prefab - mainly because I just don't have the materials laying around to build. Might be a good base to mod etc

My name is Mick. I live in Adelaide, South Australia. Been a backyard gardener off & on, but first time planning for chooks (what they call chickens here). Obviously been looking at the pre-fab solutions, but now seeing that they might not be best & all the other mistakes of newbies. I'm a...
