Update: So, putting plastic on the shells was a bad idea. It essentially caused the ducklings to become shrink-wrapped rather quickly. I think that as the ducks prepare for hatching they need to pull air and moisture in from the air sac side of the egg into their space. With the plastic over...

So some of you may have seen my posts regarding the majority of the eggs I set to hatch not having hatched by day 25. Well, the mystery has been solved - they aren’t chicken eggs! In some crazy mixup so ended up with 3 chicken eggs and 12 duck eggs!!! I had never really seen duck eggs before...

In the middle of a hatch and I am pretty sure some of my chicks are malpositioned. How can I identify the beak (or any other parts) through the membrane? I have the air cells completely open (can explain later) and am keeping the membrane moist. Thank you in advance! Worried chick mama here...

How could too high of humidity cause them to not hatch but yet develop fully?
