    Thanks. I will go get the supplies and get cleaning. By the way how would I know if the mites are eradicated. I'm guessing she was already covered in mites when she was still in the coop, and the warmer temperature in my basement brought them out.

    Thanks, I got some wood chips the next day and now it's more or less dry. Although it's snowing and below freezing again now so it's also possible water is frozen on the ground again.. Either way no more drinking from muddy puddles for my hens.

    Thanks. I will do that at least until it gets very cold again. I think back in early November when it was sub zero I had water frozen solid within an hour and half or so. I guess the chicken would appreciate the heated water then.
