Yes, they're all the same age, but they're young. This is their first year laying, since sometime in the spring.

I have 17 chickens and all has been well. They all look healthy and the eggs have all looked great, until the last week or so. Now, every day I have 1 egg that is a lot smaller than the others, speckled, and has no yolk. What in the world could be happening here?

Thanks everyone for your tips. Turned out we just had some chickens not laying yet. Now they're all laying, and they're all laying large eggs.

Saw this chicken on Facebook and have never seen one like it before. Is it real? If so, what is it?

Just wanted to update this to say that one of our chickens is laying what I'd consider a normal size eggs. I suspect they'll all follow soon enough. Some still aren't laying at all though. 17 chickens and getting 8-9 eggs a day.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this, so hopefully someone will read this too, but can y'all confirm the breed of our rooster too? He's not good at pictures so this is the best I have for now.

I look all over the place when I'm out there to make sure they're not laying somewhere else. Out of curiosity, though, if they do start laying somewhere other than their boxes, can that be fixed?

My parents have 3 of these hens and can't remember what breed they are. I'm sure they're likely a common breed, but I'm clueless.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply! I had a feeling that was the cause but I didn't expect them to stay small for this long. I figured they'd get bigger with every few eggs they lay. Anyways, good to know there's not something wrong. Thanks again!

I thought I'd upload a picture of the eggs too, just to show that they appear perfectly fine. They're just so tiny.
