Yes, we do give them calcium. The egg shells are always nice and thick. I'll check the links you added. Her poop is more normal smelling now. She is moving around a bit better but still droopy. I'll also continue with her baths, she seems to enjoy them. She's also still eating good. Thanks...
Thanks again for the response. She is pooping, it still seems normal other than the odor didn't smell like their normal smelling poop. She is still eating and drinking. I've been supplementing her food with plenty of greens, grapes, and blueberries. Also none of the rest if the flock seem affected.
Here is how she is standing. Today she is having more difficulty walking, almost like stumbling around. She'll extend one wing out slightly to keep her balance. I am able to give her baths, I keep her in the house. The area between her breasts and vent seems similar to the others. We give them...
One of my chickens (almost two years old) is acting strange. When she is standing, her butt is sort of drooping, much like that of a duck. She seperated herself from the others in the flock. She didn't put up too much of a fuss when I picked her up. I gave her a warm soak and she seemed to enjoy...
Yours looks great! I'm 6'2" and have plenty of head space. My last hoop design wsd even higher. I built a 3'fence, then added the hoop on top giving me 11' clearance in the center. It held up to good ol' WI winters well.
Thanks for all the input. I am upgrading the run with hardware cloth. I'll be adding more ventilation also. My yard is mostly sand. I basically dug a moat around it and buried chicken wire all the way around. The interior has 49 sf of floor space, even with the nesting boxes and roost. I used...
Here is my coop and run. I used a Home Depot garden shed. Floor space is 7X7. I added ventilation, a pop door, and windows. The run is 12X12. The rubberized floor makes it easy to clean. I'll be adding more nesting boxes soon. I'm also adding more ventilstion. The girls are happy and I'm...
I use chicken wire in the run. I secure the girls in the coop every night. The windows on my coop have the hardware cloth, and the pop door is secured. I let the girls free range when someone is home (which is most of the time since I am semi retired and my wife works from home. I like the trail...
Here is my work in progress. I bought a yard shed at Home Depot. Floor space is 7'X7'. It has a rubber/plastic floor and very easy to clean. It was cheaper than buying lumber. I added ventilation and op door. I also replaced the plexiglass windows with construction mesh and made hinged windows...
the base is 12X12. I went with 1" PVC, 16" on center. In each corner I have a 4X4 post anchored and buried 2' deep. I also have three 4X4 posts supporting the arch. One on each end, one in the center. I used metal electrical brackets to attach the PVC to the 2X6 frame. I used two at each attach...
