Hi everyone,
Thanks for your replies. Her pinky red patches have seemed to fade and she can walk a lot faster and is even running a lot (before she wasn't walking very much and was often standing on one leg). I decided to stop applying the treatment for a few days to see how she was without it...
Hi everyone, thanks for replying.
I think so far it has worked. Not much has really changed since I last posted 😕. Those reddy pink patches have pretty much gone away but she's still limping although it isn't as bad as before because she can walk a lot faster and even run around.
Hi RJH...
Thanks for replying. It's hard to know what the real problem is. The treatment seems to be working. She was walking a lot faster today but still has a little limp. I also started to put some Betadine on the red patches which are starting to disappear now but her feet are still swollen on the...
Hi everyone,
I've noticed one of my chickens has been limping and I'm having trouble telling what it is. I looked at her feet and she does have a pink lump on her right foot and there are some pink patches on the other (which she has always seemed to have). Also the bottom of both her feet seem...
Thanks everyone for your help. My chicken is feeling so much better. Her comb is bright red and she is eating lots of seed! :celebrate I actually think that she was molting but everyone's advice really helped. She certainly go lots of love and attention! :)
It could be frost bite since you have been experiencing really cold weather. I read somewhere that you should rub the comb with olive oil if it goes black but I'm not sure if that is for a case of frostbite. Also keep her hydrated with a dropper if she is not drinking.
She might have an impacted crop. Signs of this are if her chest is swollen and the hen is lethargic. If it is, feel where it is swollen to see if it is either squishy or hard. If she does have an impacted crop you will need to break down the tangled contents in her crop. I give my chickens...
I'm not sure how the Australorp would act around a Silkie. One of my chickens tends to be more dominant than the other but they are both very protective of each other.
So sorry to hear about your chickens and duck! Maybe some wild dogs got them??? Seems a bit unusual to have that many birds go at once especially if there are no blood signs. :(
Hi everyone,
I just put both chickens to bed. She is still not interested in the seed but was pecking at some grass before. We will give her some more rice. Any more comments are welcome!
Hi again,
My chicken doesn't have any lumps around her abdomen but we may have found a hard lump near her chest. Do you think it is a blockage? She has been wandering around the garden today but still is a bit flat. We are trying to give her a bit of oil and see what that will do. Can you please...
