19 and a half weeks old and still no eggs :( egg countdown anyone??

It did end up being her egg song. She is usually quiet unless she needs to "alert" everyone that there is something to run away from. It was just weird for me to hear it because like I said she is usually very quiet. If she wants out of the run they are in, she just lets herself out somehow. I...

That first picture looks like she is trying to duck and hide. LOL

Ok I'm going to guess that she is singing the egg song. It was just weird because it sounded like this: SCREEECH screeeech SCREEEEECH screech. She has never reallly made any bok bok noises more of like screeches. I guess thats what campines do. lol.

19 and a half weeks old and still no eggs :( egg countdown anyone??

Othello is about 25 weeks but it is only an approx age. When I got her she was about 18 weeks. She grew her comb fairly fast though when it did start growing. Now I have a buttercup that I'm unsure of what its deal is. I don't know if it is just not going to lay or is just a roo but it hasn't...

    Campine Chicken thread?

I went outside today and found my first egg but it was cracked. Othello laid it under the chicken ramp. I guess I'm going to have to check a lot earlier tomorrow and see if I can find the egg. I think that she knows I'm going to take them. I have fake eggs in the nesting boxes but I guess she...

Nevermind, Othello has started laying eggs. I found it under the ramp to the coop unfortunately it was cracked. Not sure if I have an egg eating chicken or if it broke itself. I'm going to have to look sooner tomorrow as long as it isn't cracked.

    Campine Chicken thread?

I'm hoping that this thread isn't dead but I have a silver campine and I'm unsure of when they normally start laying. She has a bright red huge comb and wattles that she has been growing for about a month now. She also has started screeching everyday for the last few days. I'm very sure she...

19 and a half weeks old and still no eggs :( egg countdown anyone??

Ok I have a question. What does the egg song sound like? I have a hen, which I'm 99% positive that is a hen, she is also a silver campine. She has grown a large comb (for her size) and wattles and they are bright red. She has been growing them for I would say about a month, the comb and wattles...

Eh I do the same thing. I told my son and his friend that if they wanted chicken nuggets, they had to catch a chicken so I could chop it up. So they ran out the door to grab one. (They are only 3 and 4) LOL

I'm surprised the chickens didn't eat it. I haven't had snakes around the house since the chickens have been around. They love those things. They all chase after each other to eat one.

    Indispensable Features?

I saw that you posted something about a rain barrel. I have an idea for an automatic waterer for a rain barrel which I hope to install in the near future. I am going to put a rain barrel connected to the gutter with a screen to keep mosquitos and debris out. Then I figure to put chicken nipplers...

19 and a half weeks old and still no eggs :( egg countdown anyone??

Well I'm still waiting on my silver campine to start laying and now I have realized that my buttercup is a roo. (How exciting) I'm not very happy. I think I'll keep him around until him and my other roo start fighting, which I'm thinking they won't because the buttercup knows his place. (my...

why did you start keeping chickens

It was an accident that I got into chickens. I've always lived in the city and I really love to be out in the country. Unfortunately for me I can't get a house out in the country at this moment. Ok so moving forward, my mom had decided to hatch chickens for a homeschool project for my younger...
