I've been feeding the same feed to both the male and female quails for quite some time so I doubt it was in the feed to begin with, but it's possible the feed got contaminated while she was outside or she ate something weird.     Thank you for the suggestion. I thought about taking her somewhere for a necropsy, but my other quails act very healthy and as active as ever. I’m torn between giving her a proper burial and getting a necropsy; I will think about it.
