Y'all are not making me very happy right now... I already have a BCM cockerel who was supposed to be a girl, and I'm thinking one of my blue australorps might be a cockerel as well. I won't give up until I hear a crow or get an egg!
I would say two or three weeks? Not exactly sure how long but certainly much longer than any of my other girls. So I just keep an eye out for secondary infections and let it run its course?
I thought she had fowl pox, but she's had these lesions far longer than any of the other chickens have. Any idea what these are and what I should do for her?
That is totally normal behavior. Yesterday I found two hens and a duck in one nesting box. It seems as if they think that if one girl likes it, it must be the best one!
This pullet was hatched February 19th, and I bought her from Ideal Poultry in their Rare Breed special. I have gone through the choices that were available at that time and I am thinking buff chantecler. Does that look right? Her legs are yellow and clean.
