Hi sorry, I never got a notification for this. Her comb is still attached thankfully. We've been using styptic powder for stopping it. Currently she's inside still in a crate, and so far hasn't tried scratching at it again!
Hello all,
We currently have a 4 year old lavender orpington hen (Little One) with a wound on her head. It looks to be under and around her comb, and it won't stop bleeding. I'm assuming she got it from roosters being too rough mating with her. She is not injured anywhere else, I found her...
Thank you guys for your advice! I did end up bringing the duckling outside to Burger's nest (once it hit the warmest it was gonna be today)
Burger was huffing at me because I had one of her babies but she didn't do anything to the duckling. She just stood her ground over her kids and let the...
Hello all,
This may be a bit of a silly question, but I keep second guessing myself on this..
Yesterday we discovered Burger my 1 year old muscovy duck had successfully hatched 8 babies. Seven of the eight seemed to be at least a day or two old, and 1 of them had looked to have just hatched...
Update: we are currently looking at his foot. Attached are pictures after we had started. Any idea on why his skin is white underneath? It was black before we started going at it. The 4th picture it seems like where the kernel pit would be. But it seems like we're pulling out dead skin chunks...
Possibly. I will look into getting Prid after we look at his foot again.
Aw poor baby :( It's rough dealing with stubborn infections. Wishing you the best of luck!! 🍀
Yeah we were able to get some kernal out. It was bleeding a lot when we were getting into it. We had just started treatment yesterday.
That's one swollen foot! I'd say my boy's foot is really only swollen around his back toe area, the rest of it appears normal thankfully!
Fair enough! That little spot didn't look like it had a kernal underneath it when we removed it. We plan on looking at his foot again tomorrow and I can give an update then.
Will do for his leg too! I'll give any updates if anything for his leg changes.
Do you possibly have an idea for his...
It looked like it was a surface level wound, there was just blood underneath and didn't seem like there was a kernal or anything there. The scab just came out in black bits and didn't seem to have anything else attached to them. Sorry if calling that leg wound bumblefoot caused any confusion! I...
Hello all,
My three year old rooster Goth Boy has a black spot on the back of his leg and bumblefoot on his back toe. We're not sure if bumblefoot can happen anywhere else besides the bottom of the foot or if it can spread to up there. Is this a thing that can happen?
He doesn't put a lotta...
She's doing okay, I ended up isolating her the next day and gave her some electrolytes in her water. She did recover and is fine now. But another duck ended up getting sick/vomiting. I isolated him and did the same thing and he ended up fine. I'm guessing they both have eaten something they...
Hello All,
So my 2 year old female muscovy duck (Pretty Girl) started vomiting "clear" liquid and some chicken feed tonight. I say "clear" because the color is clear now, the first few times it looked like it had a yellow tint to it. It was hard to tell because it was getting dark out at the...
