I just did Cornish Cross, started with 75, ended with 58.... they have about a 30 % mortality rate... I spent $495.20 total, not counting the packaging to freeze them all..... it was about 1.71 a pound which is expensive when I can get roasters for .99 a pound in the store, probably will not do...
I don't think the roo would live long enough to breed with your girls, they are killed aroun 8 weeks and usually won't live long past a few months old.
One of my very young hens decided to go broody 21 days ago, today I candled them and realized she was sitting on dead eggs. I removed them but the thing is the other hens keep laying in this spot, so I will not be able to stop her from sitting again, should I just let her sit on todays eggs...
