I am drowning in frizzle chicks (black, white, brown), satin chicks, silkies - one week old. My girl hid eggs and they are everywhere.
I also have a juvenile roo (black fluffy pic) and an adult Mottled Houdan Rooster. He's very friendly.
I have way too many chickens, plz send help...
Hey does my duckling look like a boy? Hoping she's a girl because she's loving my flock, but if she's a boy I am concerned about mating. She's in between 1 and 2 months so can't tell by the quack.
Very new at ducks, maybe I just need to be patient
update in case someone else stumbles on this thread:
So the first baby was silver laced polish rooster with a black silkie. He is growing silver lacing.
Second was white silkie rooster with my spitzhauben. I am calling her a spitzkie.
Update: we got another! So excited for my chick to have a little friend. This one hatched from either my black crested white polish egg, or my silver appenzeller spitzhauben egg. Dad must have been my white silkie because she's got some fur down the legs and black skin. Curious who the mom is...

My roosters were a silver laced polish and a white silkie.
My hens were either...

They were both dudes. Although their bouffants were round, their feathers got pretty pointed at the tips and they got very slight red bits on the face a week before crowing. I heard their saddle feathers were a hint but I couldn't tell, especially with one
I was thinking about how I can usually point out a cockerel based on which chicks are sparring in my yard/chasing pigeons - thought maybe they had some instinct that i don't! But yeah my roo loves being the head male - he just bein fancy
Apologies if this is silly, but I've been super curious. My rooster puts on a dance for the ladies, and lately he's been dancing for some of my straight runs, ranging from 1 month to 6 months old - he picks specific birds in my flock of young ones and dances for them? Can roosters instinctually...
