Tracy, CA Looking for 4-8 week old pullets

Hi, Are they all females? We did end up getting two more girls to keep our lone hen company so I'd have to clear it with the rest of the family first and only if they are females. -Karen

Tracy, CA Looking for 4-8 week old pullets

We have a lonely Welsummer that's about 6 weeks old and we just lost the last pullet closest to her in age. Anyone near me have some young pullets to spare? Thanks, Karen

    Cat Proof Indoor Brooder?

Thanks guys! Meet Anna, Elsa and Tazita! We ended up making a broader like the one we borrowed before. The lid latches and we're keeping our fingers crossed. To be safe, we'll also keep Kitty Fisher in our room when we're at work and at night!

    Cat Proof Indoor Brooder?

Not sure if this the right forum, but we are looking to get some new baby chicks that we'll eventually introduce to our current birds. We raised our other chickens indoors until they were feathered. The only problem is that now we have a cat. We adopted an older cat that belonged to my friend's...

    Adding chicks to older chickens

Can anyone share their experience with adding new chicks to older chickens? We have 3 hens that are approximately 10 months old. They are (I believe) a red sexlink, a golden wyandotte and a white leghorn. When we got these chicks we kept them inside our house until they were feathered and plan...

To lay or just to poop?

We're looking at easy options for expanding. Ordinarily I wouldn't shy away from construction either but school just started again and I need to devote my time to lesson plans and such! The girls will have to get a quick fix this time!

To lay or just to poop?

Thanks for all the replies! I will get some dimensions to you all in a later reply but for now your responses are confirming my suspicions about a few things.....some details 1) I believe the coop is too small 2) Yes, it's a pre-fab house above a really small enclosure with an extended run that...

To lay or just to poop?

So my chickens aren't laying yet. I'm theorizing that, the house part of the coop is now too small, the two nesting boxes (part of the tiny house) are being slept in (we have 4 chickens) and pooped in! Have had fake eggs in there for the longest time and now THEY are just getting pooped on...

    They're just chickens aren't they?

Thanks everyone! You guys rock! Looks like we have a consensus of sorts!
