So our salmon-flecked one lays a light-brown egg with faint brown flecks so we think she's got welsummer in her and she sounds very similar to our half welsummer. The bearded one lays white/very light brown eggs. We are unsure but think a possibility is salmon faverolle mix. We thought she was...
Ah she's just camera shy. She's had her tail very high before and now. So high I said, does that mean a rooster too and my daughter said no, legbars have a very high tail.
Oh really. I do hope so. I am wanting to move somewhere to where I can have roosters, but I can't do that yet and we so much love this new chicken. Why do you say it's a pullet please? I'm not an expert on cream legbars (either).
Hi I've just bought this girl, supposed to be a cream legbar girl and we love her already. But my daughter just noticed the spurs. She's only young (don't know the exact age as she was picked out from a flock of about 300 chickens of all various ages and breeds). 8-12 weeks somewhere... Do you...
Just an update on this quail. Turns out this is a boy...and lovely. His bent toes would go back out of shape after an hour or so but not so badly. What we did was put the little strap bandages on his bent toes four times (for about a day) and then about a day break between each. After four times...
Hi so I have this new quail, he's appprox 4 weeks in this photo. He was sold as an italian. But I've been told now if there's reddish hue he's manchurian. Now from what I've read manchurians can have the lethal gene (but it doesn't always show up, well that's what I've read)... Firstly is this...
We decided to give her a break today. And look! Her toes are so much better. She didn't bend them weirdly at all (while she walked around for about twenty minutes). We will be keeping her under observation. But so far so good. Just one day of strapping seemed to have helped a lot. Maybe she just...
We are thinking to keep on for two days then have a break so she can stretch it out and we observe the curling and how bent it still is...then maybe another two days if necessary...Anyway, giving it a go. She's walking around fine with the others atm and the strapping is holding.
She does straighten them by herself sometimes, so they don't always look like this. This is just when they look their worst. It couldn't be broken if she sometimes straightens them herself, right? The bootie didn't work - her toes were still curled to the side even though the position was right...
