This is basically what they look like.... I'm hoping to get them into their bigger box outside this week, with heat, etc.... Just gotta get the heat figured out. I got a total of 16 chicks, out of 18 fertilized eggs!
Had one with splayed legs, but got 'em fixed up in a week!
Not sure.... Ended up with 6 silkies, and 10 bantams, but they were all in a coop together, so who knows what kind of mix I'll get! some with stripes, some more white/yellow.... and then the gray silkies! Very cute!
I have to get an area set up for some larger chickens to be in before I can get more.... I'm hoping to get some done this weekend, so we shall see. When I'm more ready, I'll let ya'll know. Thanks for the well wishes! I'm not really breed specific.... I want some pretty hens, but will take...
They got in because the gate to the garden area that they will roam in was left open..... Normally when we're gone all day we shut it, but..... not this day...... :-(
Hi..... So, now I'm not sure if I want to get rid of my bantams. I'm really undecided. I know I want bigger chickens.... I'm looking at buying some chicks locally from a feed store I like, and maybe trying to hatch some eggs ..... Neighbors have RIRs I think so I'm going to get some eggs from...
Hey all. So, I'm looking at re-homing my bantum flock. I have 2 roosters, which get along quite well, with I think 13 hens. One rooster is definitely dominant, but none aggressive. If anyone is interested, let me know. I'd be glad to post more pics of them.
The hope is to take my 1...
<------ Also, is considering re-homing my bantums..... and getting some larger hens in their place.....
I have 2 RIR roosters and they are needing some hens that can handle their girth, and my bantums will not work for that.... I'm sad, but I think this will work out for the best...
Crocheting is awesome. I'm attaching a link to the person who was the best teacher online I found. If you search Crochet Geek on Google you'll find her too. My mother in law taught me the basics but you tube was also helpful! :-) My favorite crochet hooks are the metal, with bamboo handles...
Anyone know where I can get any hens about a year old or so? Maybe younger? Looking for some full size ones for my 2 RIRs because I'm sorely lacking in hens for them, since I was hoping they'd be hens, not roosters!
I Looked online but shipping is expensive. Looking for local, or may try to...
I was given names of the breeds of the bantums, but I forget what they are now.
THanks for the info on the reds, I thought they were Rhode Islands, but was just a guess. Both look identical to me.... Except the color of their tails are slightly different.
So, here are my chickens.... The red ones are the 2 newest confirmed roosters. They liked getting their pictures taken, as some of them were really hamming it up for the camera!
The golden one is Bertha (orphington from my dad).
So below, is Bertha in the background with one of my...
I have a question for ya'll.....
I mostly have bantums. 2 bantum roosters (only one of which tries to mate with the other hens that I've seen). I also have one orphington (hen) and 2 Unknown (big like the orphington & red instead of yellow). The 2 big red ones, I'm pretty sure are roosters...
