    I want to create larger silkie chickens

    I gave a white silky rooster to a friend who has a brama hen. She just hatched 3 chicks! It will be fun to see what they look like as they grow.

    What to do about the raccoons?

    I didn't know raccoons would chew through chicken wire, but it makes sense. I am putting up chain link fence dig kennel with coop safely locked inside.

    I raised chickens for years with no raccoon problems, but have moved to an area with many raccoons. I lost 7 hens to them. I saw two raccoons sitting high in a fir tree across the street in broad daylight. Tried trapping them with no luck. So I have just bought a 10' x 10' fully covered...

    I am re-entering raising chickens after I lost 7 to raccoons. I have 30 years experience at other locations, but never lost a hen. My new home is surrounded by water and raccoons are all over. So, I am putting up a 10' x 10' covered chain link dog kennel, with my lovely coop security inside...
