I used to buy white eggs to color for Easter, because I thought the brown or green/blue eggs wouldn't color right. But after trying it, I discovered that those eggs are more beautiful when colored than white eggs! Just leave them in the dye for a longer period!
One misconception here is she stated that you can't pressure can on a flat top stove - I've been doing it for years with no problems, and know many others who can on there flat top stoves. I love the idea of having an outside canning center, though!

Our chickens get all of our food scraps, everything that doesn't go in the compost pile. We've never had a problem with sickness or death - other than predators.
We've had chickens for about 5 years now. We keep a variety of RIR, Americanas, Bard Rocks, Silver Wyandotts, and we have a couple Buffs. We try to keep around 30 hens, but lost several in the last few months to critters. We currently have 19 but will be building our flock back up this Spring...
