Mine are extra noisy when I’m outside. They’re either expecting a treat, or they want out of the run. Either way, as soon as I disappear, they quiet down.
Might I suggest giving them a treat to distract for a minute? Seems to work here... and also, your backyard/coop area is lovely!
Thanks guys! You’ve been very helpful. I remember when my first birds began laying they had super thin shells, weird shaped eggs etc. but I’ve never ran into this funk!
My city began allowing chickens (no Roos) in 2014. Many who were interested began keeping chickens (as I did in 2015) right away.

Hello! I have been a chicken momma for just over 5 years. I started with a flock of 4 (per city regulations), lost one last summer due to unknown circumstances, and have just added 5 more for a total of 8 (yep- well aware of the aforementioned city regulations... but honestly, 4 hens do not...
Hi. I’m thinking this is the result of a soft shell egg (I have new layers) that most likely came from a newbie that has given me 2 double-yolked eggs so far. I know laying in the beginning can be wonky. I’ve done research and I don’t feel this matches a lash egg as from what I’ve read, lash...
