    Well I put the fake eggs in there to encourage them to lay in the boxes instead of pooping in them. Thats wat several people told me to do. And yes..she fluffs up her feathers and squacks and growls even when shes out.

    Shes definitely broody. Gets all flat and growels at me. Sits on her imaginary eggs.I make her get out so she can eat and drink.

    Can some of u post oics of their deep litter?? I only do it in the coop floor. Not in their run. Do I just put the poop that's in their boxes (yes they poop in the nest boxes)in the floor for more litter?? Winters getting close. Wanna make sure their warm.

    I'm afraid the straw will get moldy because it doesnt dry out.. I use pine.

    We have open vents in the eves of the coop. But we then put a big window in the bottom this summer for more air flow. Well have to cover that one up for winter I think. My chickens do poop in the boxes. So ill still be cleanin those out. Thanks for all the info.

    So winter is coming. I have a pretty small coop and run for my girls but they seem happy. I was wondering how good of an idea the deep litter method is? I dont plan on heating my coop so i thought this might help keep them warmer thru their first winter. Any advice? ?
