So I have a Mille Fleur rooster who is from a pure Porcelain hen and pure Mille Fleur rooster. He looks just like a Mille Fleur. He is with a bunch of pure Porcelain hens. Does any one have an idea of what these chicks are going to look like?
I have two five month old Pekin drakes that I got straight run at TSC. I was getting kind of fed up with duck keeping (for no eggs, no less!) so I was going to cull them and have a yummy duck dinner, but upon making that decision, I just can’t bring myself to do it - they are too cute! I have...
For 16 weeks I have assumed this Australorp was a pullet. But yesterday, it attacked my ankles while I was carrying their food to the feeder. The feathers don’t look like rooster feathers, however the comb and wattles are significantly bigger and redder than the other Australorp pullet of the...
I had a white Cochin bantam cockerel before too and he was the meanest thing imaginable, to people and birds! But tell me, are processing bantam cockerels at 10ish weeks old worth it? Is there even meat to speak of? These guys have to go and maybe I could finally find the courage to kill and...
If anyone ever wonders, I think it is safe to say they are cockerels at this point. Also pretty sure they are Golden Laced Cochins. They are also little jerks. I’m pretty sure their lives will be good, but short.
Is there any chance these two bantam Cochins are girls? I don’t know what color of Cochin they are supposed to be. They are 7 weeks old. (The two in question are the dark colored ones - don’t mind the Mille Fleur D’uccles photo bombing)
My Porcelain D’uccle, Effie, successfully hatched and raised three beautiful healthy chicks. She kicked them to the curb one week ago (they hatched 8 weeks ago). She ran right back to the nesting box and is broody again! I’m not opposed to having more chicks so I’m considering letting her brood...
Realistically, yes they are probably going to end up someone’s dinner. They are my daughter’s beloved duckies though and she understands why they must go, but she wants to try and find them a home. If the one keeps attacking me, however, I won’t feel too much pain eating them myself.
So after weeks of hoping for two girls, I now know I have two 17 week old Pekin drakes. And one has become aggressive to me, charging and biting when I walk away. I am trying to rehome them, but I am going to guess that will take awhile since most people don’t want a couple of drakes. In the...
These are my two Pekin ducks, Chick Chick and Rose Petal, from the straight run bin at TSC. They are 16 weeks old tomorrow. They make the same kind of noises so I’m pretty sure I’ve got two of the same gender, but I can’t decide if it is for sure girl quacks. And I don’t know what I’m seeing in...
