I found them in tall grass under a young lilac tree. They definitely got morning sun for however long they've been there but I would say the grass shaded them out a bit. I'll try the float test - thank you!
So I just discovered one of my chickens has been laying outside the nesting boxes. I found 14 eggs and a few of them look like this. Does anyone know what the brown watercolor-like streaks mean?
Ok, the first two photos are of the female that has the blue feathers peeping through. The last photo is to show you the female(right) and the unknown sex (left with the green colors showing on its head) to see if you maybe know what breed and/or what gender they could be. I’m going to send you...
I'll get a video and share with you soon. I looked at the one clear female out of them and she is developing blue feathers on the sides like a Rouen. I'm now wondering if they're a Campbell x Rouen cross now.
Have you had dark campbells before? Most of mine are developing a hint of green coloring on their heads and a bit on their tails. Only some have a slight voice change but no obvious quacks yet. They're about to be 7 weeks old. Do you know by chance what their gender could be just from those details?
How old are the drakes? If they're 4 months or older, you need at least 8 hens total for just those two drakes (4 or more hens per drake is the general rule). Otherwise, they'll become aggressive, and could result in a hen's injury or even death. Do you know the genders of the KC's you got?
My ducklings love blueberries but love strawberries even more!
Make sure to chop them up into tiny bite size pieces for them. I use a food processor if I have a good amount to share with them.
Drakes can be super aggressive so it's very important to have at least 4 or more females per Drake you decide to keep to avoid the hen's from getting injured or even killed by the drake. I have had to accept that I'll probably have to process a few drakes if I get a straight run from TS. If...
I got an assorted mix at TSC, and the one's I'm unsure of were all black but are now starting to shift as they're getting older (about 2 weeks now). Anybody know the breed of these ducklings? I thought Cayugas when I first got them but now I'm not sure. 1st photo is what they looked like when I...

They’re such stunning ducks! Do you by chance know what my baby ducklings could be just by the colors of their bills and beans? They’re not even a week old so it’s too early to tell with their quack, tail or plumage
I got some Buff Orp. Ducklings from a neighbor. Some of their coats were yellow and some were yellow with brown coloring. I grabbed the ones that were mostly yellow and am noticing that they have different color beaks. One with a beige and the other two with a darker, almost navy, gray coloring...
