thank you.will research on adding the hot wire. i havent been sleeping well, the trauma of waking up to feathers and carcasses all over has been giving me sleepless nights.i covered all possible places they can come in and hope it works for now.
the coons would come around too, we would get disturbance in the trash and once one of them just walked around the coop and never came bk so this time it was just bad.
yes, the holes at the top.in summer i used to leave the window open coz it has hardware cloth but now i didnt want to risk it.the coons also tried to climb up and get through there.pretty determined.i have 7 hens in a 8*8 coop so they get plenty of airflow not stuffy or smelly at all.
yes they are very smart, discovered that the hard way.they also managed to get into my pickup trunk and eat chicken feed i had bought. they are honestly just a menace.
my run has a roof.i secure them in the run now before it gets dark.its been really trying to climb to get a way through but for the past 2 days hasnt managed.i'm hoping they will give up.
i ordered a camera, will get it a few days so i will monitor and see. we plan on getting a dog in the future though.its not in the cards any time soon but i know that will ease my mind.
Here is a picture of the coop, i have hardware cloth, a roof on the run.i fixed the run door where the wood was warped and thats how they managed to get in.they have been climbing up to try and get through the holes i have in the coop for air circulation but there is a mesh.i can see the foot...
I left my meat birds outside in a tractor and woke up to them gone, like no trace at all, i honestly cried. i had put in so much effort into raising them.after 2 nights raccoons found my coop and managed to open the pop door took 3 hens out of 10 and i woke up to carcasses and feathers...
thank you.yes the HC is the right size for the frame, since i put the 2*4 wide side i wasnt sure if it will be sturdy enough.i figured i need the surface area to staple in the HC. hopefully it will turn out ok, i'm ready to be done.
