Keeping chickens cool in the summer?
I let our flock free range. In hot weather they tend to spend most of the day(mostly the hottest part of the day) going from our pine trees to our large lilac bushes(we have them trimmed like an umbrella.) They go through or corn in the garden(which they don't bother any if our plants) where...- morganfearnot

Free ranging pros and cons?
Yes there are pros and cons for allowing ur birds to free range. I've let my birds free range for the past 3 years, I haven't lost any. (yet...knock on wood) I think having a rooster has a lot to do with it. He takes great care of his ladies. From a predator in the sky to a stranger that approaches.- morganfearnot

what breed are my ducklings
Got a worry...I have one runner duck that is the smallest of the group (u can see the size difference in the photo's above) and it's upper bill is twisted a little. I want to know if this is going to be a health problem for her. I'll get a picture of it and post it asap.- morganfearnot

My ducklings were the same. But since they are getting their feathers i'm unsure about 4 of them. Two of them are definitely pekins.the 4 of them are smaller and have grayish feathers.- morganfearnot
