What are your frugal and sustainable tips and tricks?

Sorry it didn't work, but grateful you passed along the info. I don't know if my low guilt threshold might have put me up to "trying" but now I can just "pass" on the experience thanks to yours. :)

What are your frugal and sustainable tips and tricks?

Sorry, I mis-explained I put it into a bucket as I find it, then go dump the contents from time to time... Usually once a week when it isn't hot (smell factor calculation ;) ) I LOVE that table, may need to frame it to hang on the chicken coop to explain to nosey-vistors who need a "reason"...

What are your frugal and sustainable tips and tricks?

I don't know if it is because the dog loves my spouse TOO MUCH and me just a little, and the hens are 'mine' or it really is objectively true.... but I find the dog poop is stinky and gross... where my hens can do no wrong, even poo... (yeah, parents do have favorites ;) ) I think you would...

    Change of plans

And a black chick will always grow up to be a black hen or she might grow into a blue hen?

What are your frugal and sustainable tips and tricks?

Duck poop and turkey poop and hen too ;) The only poop I could do without is my 130lb dog... Wish I could teach her to use a toilet. All my other poopers I follow around scooping it up and happily putting it into my "next year" garden beds. (I rotate)

Is this too many days for shipped chicks to survive? (4)

... To add to future confusion ;) I have worked in logistics and when you have a bunch of things that will all come at once and need to go fast (like adorable baby 🐥 ) To save time and go really efficiently, you pre-print your shipping labels, and these days that means that before you are...

    Change of plans

(Uninformed... Ok, "dumb" question ;) ) In humans we often look a lot like one parent at birth, then look like the other later on. Do chicks of a mixed marriage change over time or do they choose one side, or both sides and stay there their whole life?

7 month old barred rock rooster looking for good home

So sorry about the complaints :( Sad to have such an issue. Makes you wonder where those people think their chicken dinners are coming from. Please edit the title of your post to include your city/state info to increase his chances of adoption. You can post in your state thread too. He...

I have 12 chickens and 7 ducks. Looking for a good home

I use 10mil plastic, it is the standard up here (our weather is very different, it may well be your local standard to use 4 or 6. Use whichever is available without hesitation.) your goal is to control for drafts, any of them will get you there. I use an old radiator heater, but I once had one...

What is this? Around my hens mouth

It is odd if she did have feathers there that she got "plucked" so cleanly. I would need to use a hair removal cream to get my face that "fuzz free" If it looks irritated (red) and she won't let you pick her up, get close (pretending to garden near her so she comes to look can work). Then spray...

I have 12 chickens and 7 ducks. Looking for a good home

A substantial part of their good behaviour is your ratio of male/female. Their ages and breeds account for a part of it as well. It is uncharitable and unkind of you to tell people their ducks' instinctive behavior is their fault. We all do our best, but instincts are not something you can...

I have 12 chickens and 7 ducks. Looking for a good home

"Thermal mass" is the Google search that will help you most. You don't need to invest in transparent greenhouse panels. Wood or brick (recycling whatever you have) will absorb the heat of the day and release it at night. It is most of what keeps your home warmer at night than living in a tent...

I have 12 chickens and 7 ducks. Looking for a good home

In winter that is a constant struggle... I have a "duplex" chicken coop, (like a walk in shed, with a wide shelf that covers about half of it) I used mismatched vinyl on the surface and the top "floor" is for ducks, under is hens. Being not on the ground it is warmer. I have a tile floor on...
