I have an order from Sandhill I was hoping and thinking would be shipped today as well, but I haven't gotten a call or email confirmation from them either so that looks very doubtful unless they are running slow today in letting people know.
Its kind of a bummer, I ordered some chicks later...
Good Poll,
I selected my breeds coming in next week with the idea of good producing meat and eggs that can get out there and forage for some of their food at the same time not advertising themselves to predators that will hopefully lay through winter and go broody to continue the generations...
well, hopefully I get better experience with the Dom`s then you did Redhead Rae I have a half dozen of them coming, half from Cackle, half from Sandhill.
I will be having a chicken breed face-off to see which breed works the best for us and focusing on those primarily. I love the reports on the...
Your description makes me very interested in getting them and seeing them get older except for the non broody part. I have a few Australorps coming as well, along with an assortment of other dual purpose, I only ordered the Australorps due to all the high reviews I figured I would give them a...
thanks!
I see you have several other breeds as well. How do the New Hampshire's rate amongst laying, esp in winter compared to your others? Have any gone broody?
Its funny you say you got the free range ones, I actually was looking into that but did not see them available on their website...
Has anyone ever had the New Hampshire breed out of Cackle Hatchery" I just ordered some today. Their website describes them as the Newcomer strain, a strain reportedly developed by a Andrew Christie in the 1920`s for superior egg production. I also have an order placed with Sand Hill...
This is by no means a definitive nor completed copy of what my search into what quality means in chicken feed. It is a posting of my personal notes that I will be using to choose feed for "MY" personal flock. It is a combination of hand written notes, links and findings converted into this...
One of the feed stores in my area called me back today on the Kalmbach. They said they don't carry it right now but if I give them a heads up they will order it for me. This is for the "all-natural" , non organic 50lb bag of Kalmbach 17% pellets high omega, high D, I believe it was quoted at $19...
I actually did call a handful that are within reasonable distance that Kalmbach stated carry the brand. They all just had the basic layer formula, and a few are supposed to see if they can order the Hi omega Hi D and give me a call back, that was lunch time today, still waiting on them to call...
Has anyone tried this particular feed from Kalmbach, it looks very promising as a good feed after some initial research I have done. It is the 50lb bag of layer with added omega 3 and added vitamin D to it, non-organic labeled "all natural" with product code 1717SUM, via Kalmbach website.
I...
Cindy, I am glad I checked into what you said, I am amazed by the variety of offerings from Kalmbach, they even offer a version touted with additional vitamin D and omega 3 on their website, worth looking into pricing for me in the future for consideration. It also made me aware that some of...
Interesting feed back, especially on the changes to ingredients over the seasons. GC-Raptor, I will be doing the same thing thing and saving the ingredient listing just to see the changes, good idea there!
With humans, dogs and cats.....and I can only assume with chickens, Different foods...
Is there not anyone willing to make a Chicken Feed Comparison Chart? I can look up dog food and cat food comparison charts all day long that are very informative in describing the different brands and what they contain and that lists in detail what to look for in the food and what to watch out...
