    Broken off feathers

I have not figured out what the issue is, and it’s still there. It’s only 2 out of my now 9 birds. If anything, they look worse now, with bald skin exposed. I will get some updated pics when it quits raining.

Oh my gosh! Are these roosters? Speckled Sussex

And now I see it clear as day and wonder how I didn’t notice this before. I was blind! Well Chuck and Cody have to find a new home. I wonder if I can breed a speckled Sussex rooster with a sex link hen. But unless I have a broody hen, no eggs are going to hatch anyway. Grrr!!

Oh my gosh! Are these roosters? Speckled Sussex

Man I am seriously bummed! I don’t know how I didn’t notice this before. I just didn’t look because I assumed they were all hens. Btw the white is not a roo, she’s an amberlink, definitely laying, and sweet as pie! Having never had roosters, I didn’t know they’d act just like hens. These...

Oh my gosh! Are these roosters? Speckled Sussex

This is Charlotte and Cocoa. Well, it might be Charles and Cody?? I just assumed they were hens, as all my chicks were bought sexed, and it never entered my mind. But the wattles on Charlotte! And she’s HUGE. And they both have really long neck feathers. What are they? I raised them with all my...

    Broken off feathers

I thought one chicken was pecking on the others. But now all 4 hens have this going on. Coop and run are huge and I only have 4 so not overcrowded. Had chickens for 8 years so not new. We recently moved the entire coop and run to a new town, so 3 months ago they were stressed. One chicken lays a...

    Mystery black chickens

Well I guess that is what they are then. I was hoping to have something different even if it was not what I picked. But I still love my bsl hen, she is my favorite and 4 years old now.

    Mystery black chickens

They are cuties! They look more white than rust colored in the chest, mine are like a copper color. But the one on the right does look similar.

    Mystery black chickens

They don't have any beards or muffs or anything like that. Their body shape is similar to the black sex link too.

    Mystery black chickens

Really? That never entered my mind, I just figured more black sex links. Can you post pics?

    Mystery black chickens

one of these is a black sex link I know for sure because I already have a 4 year old hen, and I got this one out of the black sex link bin! It has a super rusty chest and yellow legs. But the other two came out of a black silkie bin, which they clearly are not. They have black/slate legs, and a...

    How many chickens

I was wondering how many chickens would be good for this size coop! The run is 11'9" by 4'4", and the coop is and additional 6'4" by 4'4" with the run also extending under the coop, and the entire thing is 5'7" tall in back to 6 feet tall in front. So what do you all think I can hold in there?

    Please help sick chicken!

Thank you again for all the help. My chicken died this morning. :( she was looking better too. She walked around my patio and even hopped up on my brick wall, and then she just suddenly made a sqwaaak sound and keeled over dead. I still have no idea what was wrong with her. My other chickens are...
