    I have had great luck with both hatching eggs and day old chicks they have always been healthy and arrived in good shape when I ordered from McMurry hatchery there birds are true to there breed.

    Check to make sure that the membrane is not completely dried and stuck to it you may want to take a eyedropper and put a little water on it so that it can remove itself from the shell.

    well my first eggs have started to hatch I had four at 12 noon today and today is day16 so I guess that my temp most have been OK other than the one time that it jumped to just over 101..now if the other 196 hatch it will be a good set.

    I had it jump to almost 102 for just a short time and I caught it and moved it down right away. don't think that it was there that long.

    All of these were hatched on the 31st and I received a call this morning to come to the post office and pick them up. All are in the best of health or at least seem to be, All are eating and drinking The little gray ones are some of the silkis

    If the hen is anything like mine she will run any other hen or cock that get to close away in short order most are very protective of there chicks, if you have a space to move her to then go ahead and move her as this will give her some time without having to be chasing other birds away.

    My wife just ordered some silkies from Mcmurry hatchery they are due to ship the first of next week. they still had some left for this season.
