    Getting Ducks to like humans

I have one mallard of unknown gender and 3 Welsh harlequins, all are supposed to be female. How do I get these ducks to be more friendly? I’ve had the mallard since it was 2 days old and I got the WH 2 days ago at 6-7 weeks old. I want them to know I’m friendly. Thanks.

    Duck Pecking Order

Update: I just got home from a fishing trip (not very successful except for some bluegill) at 1 AM and my mom told me the mallards were in the front yard , which is about 50 yards from the backyard, and there was only one. I can’t tell which one is here because it’s 1 am but I believe it’s the...

    Duck Pecking Order

It’s hard to notice so it very well could be the case of 2 drakes. They have warmed up to the WH a bit though, but if I have to keep them separated until the mallards fly away then I will.

Hmm. One of the mallards has a dark brown head, but will that change when they mature? I am new to ducks. Thanks for all the help.

    Duck Pecking Order

They don’t make much noise, but I have heard them make some noise. All I heard was the drakes raspy voice. The lady who sold me the WH was only supposed to give me 2 females but she threw in another one and we think it might be a drake because he is smaller than the others and has different...

    Duck Pecking Order

2 of the 3 WH are quacking like hens and one mallard has a dark green head while the other has a brown head.

    Duck Pecking Order

All of the new Welsh Harlequins are females and it looks like one of the mallards are, which is 4 females to one drake.

Does anyone know if it’s going to last for a while or just a little bit? Thanks.

    Duck Pecking Order

The new WH are all hens, and the mallards look like one drake and one hen. I can’t tell for sure though, they haven’t gotten their feathers or voices yet. Thanks for the advice.

    Duck Pecking Order

I just got new Welsh Harlequins added to my flock of 2 mallards. Both are the same age, born the week of Mother’s Day. My mallards chase around the WH with their bills open, is this normal? Thanks
