    Brightened up my flock today!

Im breeding for pointing dog training and my son and I want to race a few against each other for fun. my original 6 (checked and Solid barred) came as supposable 3 pair. new saddle bars and bandit racers cost me a bit... and supposably are pairs. I have no idea about hardly any of this... lol...

    Feed brand

Yes the company sure does... But most anything purina I can “worksheet” special order too. so even if it’s not on the website and we do not normally stock it I can still get it.

    Feed brand

Yes the dried kind for chickens they do seem to eat them. Lol but I will stop! I like the pelleted diet simply for the simplicity. We are starting to sell the Checker, Nutriblend Gold and Green. I was thinking the green as it’s highest in price and protein and you tend to get what you pay...

    Feed brand

Not to hijack the thread... but I’m feeding a mix of royal wing no waste fruit blend and a 6 grain non gmo scratch... and some meal worms... I realize this is probably not good. But someone told me a pelleted diet is also not good? anyways I work at Tractor Supply (yay employee discount) and...

    Got my homing pigeons today!

Thanks great suggestions everyone! I do plan to keep records as eventually down the road I know some will be better, stronger, faster, healthier... than others and you have to make choices from your records in regards to future breedings and who stays and who goes. But... right now I just love...

    Got my homing pigeons today!

I have been checking out clubs. Might be a possibility one day. But right now it’s mostly just for fun. I am supposed to be getting a pair of Blue Bar Saddle Janssen Racers and a pair of Bandit Racers. My pigeons got to enjoy the outside today for the first time :) I have on order leg bands...

    Got my homing pigeons today!

Thank you. I was most impressed with how proud the owner was. Explaining things to me and showing the birds off. The birds are well fed and much cleaner and prettier than all the dog folks make them sound. I instantly fell in love with them. I love the soft coos and how easy they are to handle...

But I still feel a little bad keeping them caged 🤷‍♀️. And I am slightly excited to see the birds in flight.... obviously I will be holding off!

    Got my homing pigeons today!

So... some will be used to toss for pointing dog training (ideally no harm done to the bird). But my son and I plan to get super attached to them too then race our favorites against each other. For fun :) I understand the risks of flying birds... and that said I am also ready to risk that as...

    Got my homing pigeons today!

I found a local guy who was super duper nice and he sold me 6. Supposed to be 3 pairs. Obviously I would have maybe preferred squeakers. H told me if provided with the right environment they should nest quickly. Once they nest and have eggs will they stay in my loft or still try to return...

Looking to buy baby pigeons online...

To be honest these will be used for pointing dog training. So I felt the need for pedigreed birds wasn’t totally nessasary but I do get the idea that I will know what they are if they are pedigreed. The dogs are not allowed to catch the birds... thus my desire for good healthy Fliers that will...

Looking to buy baby pigeons online...

I’m looking to buy some unpedigreed baby racing pigeons online. I have raised chickens ducks quail and pheasants. Are baby pigeons a lot different to get started? Are they good with a heat lamp and will they eat and drink right away? These are a more considerable investment at $60-$225 (if I...

    Guess the duckling

I will add while I do enjoy brining the poor ones home and seeing them turn around I really really really hate chick days. 🙁
