i had 3 cortonix chicks, 1 died for a unknown reason so i have 2 left and 5 button chicks, tiny in size, ive separated the 2 but think another will die because his right side of his head has swollen up and i dont know why
it could be pecking, I had six eggs and the numbers just drop from failed...
Coturnix quail chicks attacking button quail chicks
Coturnix quail chicks are only 8 hours old and twice the size as the button chicks who is 2 days old, incubated same time.
how can a baby bird not even a day old become so aggressive?
its chases the button chicks and grabs it with its beak...
yah, I bought a chick heater brooder plate and set it to 3 inches as the birds are 1 inch in height, its on the right side on the tissue paper bedding, its not in the picture.
Look at this
Bee sized birds, absolutely tiny and a wonder to watch them explore, they get to roam in my house open world style for and hour a day.
2 of them was assisted and 1 was assisted early, It would of been death because these are tiny and the strength and energy needed to hatch out is...
there shouldn't be a decision, its moving in the egg which indicates life, I wouldnt give up on them, let it go past the due date to give them every chance of living a life.
wow, duck eggs are resilient, they want to live, after 6 hours of cold the 4 duck eggs still seem alive, 3 of them seem good, still kicking but one of them seems a little darker than the others and a bit slower,
Unfortunately all of the quail eggs seem inactive I think, though 2 of them have...
well i tell whats happened to the 4 duck eggs until it gets dark tonight, then I have around 8 quail eggs and half of those have hatched, i think if it was too cold the embryos would probably shut off for a few hours and after that the beating heart that circulates the blood would of also shut...
so i have 4 fertile duck eggs, yesterday i candled and all 4 were kicking about
I also have a remaining 8 quail eggs, 6 hatched 8 left
As soon as I realised the incubator was off i switched it back on immediately
all the eggs were cold to the touch, as in room temp cold
2 from the bunch of...
humidity 70-80% so check this out, the 2 eggs that piped i wasn't aware until it was to late, one of the chicks died in the egg, so the other egg I intervened, I carefully cut a hole and removed the membrane which is like adhesive to the chicks.
These are Chinese silver striped quails which are...
yah the air vents are opened, I placed a wet sponge for extra humidity, so the membrane doesnt dry up around the beak and pipped area, out of the 15 eggs 1 pipped and 1 has already died, Im gonna not go work for the next 2 days as I need to monitor these pipped eggs as they tend to die and they...
ok so what ive done is this, it seems the chicks position is upside down, a bit like cooking turkey in an oven position, so what i did was I carefully cut towards of the left side of the pic position, so now i can see its beak, its under the wing, beak opened it a few times, Ive basically...
hey thats what exactly happened to my quail chick, it pipped and then suddenly stopped and then it died, like i saw the pip and i saw the tip of its beak and assumed it will come out on its own
then after a few hours it just died, no suffocation, as no dry membrane on its beak, body still wet...
So I have like 12 chinese striped quail eggs
Its day 16.5
2 eggs pipped so far, Im observing and suddenly I see one of the chicks that pipped stopped moving stopped breathing
I assumed its probably the side of the chick so I cant see the movement, the other pipped egg I can see breathing...
whats the point of that? why dont u just stick em in an incubator? u could break the eggs by sleeping on them or by bumping into something
walking could kill the embryos because of your constant body movement.
So I have 6 duck eggs, I placed them in a incubator and 4 of the eggs have grown veins, but only on one side
When I candle the eggs I can clearly see a 1 inch embryo clearly moving around like its wiggling continuously
So it seems its alive but the issue is when I turn the egg, on one side its...
