    Hen with foot problems

lol, yeah I realised that when she kept moving the food we'd put the denagard in to get to just about anything else. Instead I've been mixing into layer's pellets with a bit of luke warm water and cheese and a few meal worms and giving it first thing as a small mash to her in the broody cage...

    Hen with foot problems

Thanks, the vet has already prescribed anti biotics and we are at the end of a 10 day course. I can treat for scaly leg mite, but if the infection hasn't/isnt responding to treatment is there anything I can do about that? TIA

    Hen with foot problems

Hi We have a Brahma cross hen app 2 years old. Has developed a problem with her foot (initial limp, now noticeable problem on upper foot/ankle-see pic) She had lost weight, but took her to vet last week and with weight gain powder has improved her weight. Thanks everyone for your input, as far as I can see from the replies so far we are doing the right sort of things, which is always helpful to see

Problems with neighbours - good suggestions?

Nope, they send messages to my teenage daughter who has been sitting her exams for the last week or so, which is kind of worse. I've suggested any concerns they have they can put in writing and send them to us (the adults) but that hasn't happened so far

Problems with neighbours - good suggestions?

My hens come out to bray, they tend to come out onto the grass and then go for it. I already have the hens area as far away as I can from their property - it's right up against the fence on the opposite side of my garden from theirs - I can't physically move it any further. They might be...

Problems with neighbours - good suggestions?

The hens bray once they've left the nesting box, so I'm not sure if that will help, but it's not a bad suggestion. I don't think that the kids were being overly noisy when they did the chores, I've obviously trying to make sure they are as quiet as possible, but in general around here at 8.15...

Problems with neighbours - good suggestions?

We've kept hens for around 4 years. We used to have 3 birds; now we have 5. I've checked the paperwork for the property I live in, and it's fine to keep a few hens. However, one of our neighbours seems intent on trying to make us feel uncomfortable. When we had 3 hens, they were fairly old...
