    Ameraucana Roo?

If this isn't a cockerel, then this is by far the largest and meanest pullet we ever had. What do you think? No, crowing yet. She is about 11 weeks old. Absolutely beautiful though.

Is it safe to eat this egg?

Good Morning, I am a new chicken own as of April 2014. I had been feeding my chicks medicated grower feed. I decided to switch them over to organic feed about two weeks ago. At about that time, one of my chickens surprised me by laying an egg. Since I had just transitioned the chick to...

    Chickens are carnivores!?

After reading the thread on chicken treats I am quite confused. In all of my research into free range chickens and the awesome nutritional value, I had been under the impression that chickens were insectivores and herbivores. This thought supported the reason for chicken manure being a great...

Two Dominiques with two different combs.

Yes, they are under 8 weeks. One has a flat comb and the other a horn on the comb. Not sure which would be my gal and which would be my guy.

Two Dominiques with two different combs.

Dominique #1 is always the first one to greet us, he/she "talks" more than the rest. Cockerel? Dominique #2 is less social. Pullet? Thanks again!

    Another Red to figure out.

I just posted a previous thread on a red. Not sure on the gender or breed of this one either. I bought the two chicks out of the same brood/ bucket. Not sure on the correct term. Any thoughts?

    Is this Red a pullet?

Hi All, I am new to chickens and am not sure if this is a cockerel or pullet. Also, not sure if it a Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire Red. I would love any ideas. Thanks!

    New to chickens and BYC!

Hello, I am a new owner of 6 chickens. We live in Minnesota. Our brood lives in a tractor coop. My husband and I purchased the coop and then doctored it up to be portable. Our six hens, cross our fingers, are Dominiques, Easter Eggers, a Rhode Island Red, and a New Hampshire Red. Any...
