    Thumbelina and the Colonel

So these are two of our 5 chickens; they were all born the same day (4/8) and should all be NH Reds. The size difference confuses me but the other three are at various stages as well; just kind of funny to see the difference. I am assuming this is normal right? She is healthy and happy and...

    Runt question

I got five NH reds, they were born two weeks ago tomorrow. I have one who is half the size on the rest; the flock protects her and she is a healthy happy chick (it seems). I am wondering if they sent me a RI Red instead or if this is a normal occurrence. Any advice would be lovely! It's the...

Where do I get my chicks?!

They were $12.20 for up to 9, then it drops to 7.34 I think. You will pay more for a small order but we just didn't have the room for a bigger order and I could not see buying animals that we would then need to sell or give away with a larger order.

Where do I get my chicks?!

Purely Poultry has a small batch order (I just got 5 and they were perfect!!) other places do small batch or "city dwellers" orders as well doing a quick google search can help you locate them.

    handling baby chicks

Also the more the chicks are handled (delicately) the more "domestic" they become, it's a great way to create a loving bond with the chicks. This works especially well if your going to be having the chicks as pets; if your going to eventually use them for meat, may not be the best idea to bond
